Robert M. Jensen, M.D.

Dear Dr. Jensen:

On behalf of the grateful Republic of Palau, I write to thank you as the team leader of Operation Restore for your generous humanitarian efforts while your team (Dr. Daniel Kahn, Dr. Karen Kahn, and Nurse Amy Beth Davis) was here in Palau from May 27-31, 2002, providing reconstructive surgical services. During it’s short stay, Operation Restore saw 31 patients, completed 14 surgical procedures, and saved the Republic of Palau almost $27,000 in reconstructive surgical costs. It was a blessing to our people that they did not have to go off island to receive such expert surgical care.

We are particularly appreciate of your team performing the cleft palate repair on little Opkal Matsu, age 14 months. She has healed well and is articulating better. Your team’s efforts will be a great comfort to her family for years to come.

Although your stay in Palau was short, you made a large impact on your patients and all that you met. We thank Francis Toribiong for introducing you to us and we look forward to seeing you again in the near future.

Again, on behalf of your grateful patients and our nation, I thank you and your team for your professional excellence and generosity. May God bless you.

Sincerely,

Sandra S. Pierantozzi
Vice President & Minister of Health
